What does this statement mean "art Thou come hither to torment us before the time?
Matthew 8:29 (King James Version)
29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?
If it refers to the apocalypse, does that mean they ( the demons ) know the future of the world?
torment comes from a Greek word- basanistes- that can me jailer.The demons know they will go into the abyss -locked away from influencing mankind during thousand year reign of Christ which is when made will be brought back to perfection as Adam and Eve had before they sinned against God.Then after final test of mankind as to whether they will stay faithful to God -not being able to say they are imperfect any longer-so any deliberate act of unfaithfulness against him is punished with death not torment,the demons will also be destroyed forever, they know this and that is why the world is the way it is 2 Tim 3:1-5 and God's mandate for the earth and mankind will then be fulfilled-paradise for all.God is a God of love and justice.
