When did Mad Eye Moody get locked in the trunk?
I haven't read the book in awhile, but I am watching the movie right now. When did Crouch lock up the real mad eye movie? Was the real one in the movie at all before the end? Like, was he ever the teacher or what?
Mad Eye in the movie*
The real Mad-eye Moody is not present in any of the book as we see him. He doesn't teach at all, and we don't "face" him until he's revealed in the trunk.
It isn't clear exactly when Crouch began impersonating Mad-eye, but I think we are led to believe it is between when Dumbledore asks him to fill in for the DATDA position (an "off screen" scene if you will) and when Arthur Weasly is called to Mad-eye's house the morning that everyone returns to Hogwarts (which isn't in the movie but happens in the book). So no, we don't see the real Mad-eye in the movie before we see him in the bottom of the trunk.
