Hair doesn't hold color anymore. Maybe meds I'm taking?
I am 56 yrs old. I have colored my hair almost my whole life without any problems. I have been using permanent Loreal Preference dark neutral brown with 20 volume developer all like before. It made my hair almost black at first (which I liked) then very gradually would fade slightly. I use a shampoo for color treated hair and only wash it every few days. Lately it doesn't even come out the dk brn it used to and after about 2 weeks it has completely faded to my medium brown. This has been going on for about a yr. Then it occurred to me it could be some of the medications I take. I don't have anything too serious but do take 4 pychotropics for my bipolar and heavy pain meds for chronic pain issues. Also cholesterol and blood pressure medications. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get it to look like it used to? Several months ago I thought I'd try a salon and it came out really nice but I just can't afford to go every 4-6 weeks. HELP!!!!
