How do I make a Vanilla Cake with Strawberry Cream Cheese filling? or a cheesecake type filling?
My sister-in-law wants a cake for her birthday that is white/vanilla cake with sort of a cheesecake filling and strawberries... i have no idea how to go about this!??! there are recipes online for strawberry cream cheese fillingg but i'm not sure if that would be good or work?
any suggestions at all??! thanks!
There are a few ways you can do this.
In the grocery store in the aisle where pudding and other bakery type items are is a No Bake Cheesecake I think it is a Jello product. You can use that as the filling. OR In the refrigerated section of the store by the cream cheese ia a product made by the makers of Philadelphia cream cheese it is a ready to eat cheese cake filling.
Make your vanilla cake as directed on the package.
Make the frosting you want.
Use real strawberries or get a good quality strawberry jam.
Assembly.
Place 1 cake layer on a serving plate.
Pipe a ring of frosting around the edge of the cake. About 1/4 to 1/2 inch in from the edge and about 1/4 to 1/2 inch high.
Half way fill this area with the cheesecake filling, put a layer of strawberry filling, top with more cheesecake filling.
Top with the second layer of cake. Press down gently but firmly so the cake seals against the ring of frosting that you piped around the edge. This will keep the filling from oozing out.
Frost as you normally would.
If you are using fresh strawberries they may get mushy. I would prefer the high quality strawberry jam to the fresh strawberries.
Serve fresh strawberries on the side if you like.
The other option would be to gently mix the strawberry jam into the cheesecake filling.
I think the look of the multiple layers would look very pretty though.
