Is Ian Bell still failing to shake off "The Sherminator" tag?

Ian Bell is winning lots of plaudits for the improvements in his attitude and batting. However, there is still a nagging doubt about him, that he plays for himself and asn't capable of becoming the responsible batsman England require him to be.

At the WACA, he top scored in England's first innings, but, when left with the rabbits of the tail, he panicked, and got himself out with a stupid shot, seemingly content that he had done his bit, and covered his deficiencies with his half-century. In the second innings, as the only recognised batsman left standing against a near-certain Australian win, Bell played prettily, but without much conviction.

Is Bell actually capable of handling responsibility, and turning his class into greatness?

You have a point, however, I think you have to be a selfish so-and-so to get on in cricket. Pietersen being a prime example, and before him, Boycott was extremely selfish. However, in Boycotts case, he did have the ability to drop the bat on the ball, and take the shine off, which is what made him one of the best openers of all time. In Bells case, I think he is under pressure, even more than Pietersen, because he is universally acclaimed for his technique. What he needs to do is follow in the steps of Cook, who is also recognised for his text book style, but has adapted to Test match cricket at last, but it has taken a while, and I think Bell needs more time as well.
